St Joseph 2024!

We are quickly approaching the Feast of St Joseph on March 19th. St Joseph is the patron saint of Canada. This year we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of the consecration of Canada by Fr Joseph LeCaron. St. Joseph is the spouse of our Lady, who is the patroness of our diocese, therefore he should be a saint we also should have a relationship with. As we continue on our Diocesan renewal through our parishes we keep in mind St Joseph as that model who did the will of the father. Remember that our Diocesan and Parish renewal is about doing the will of God the Father for our parish, for our diocese, and for our country of Canada. One of the priorities of that renewal is to strengthen family life. Too many of us know of the division within many families and the heartache when their children no longer come to church. We need to engage the family in the parish. Who better to turn to than St Joseph, head of the holy family!

God Squad Canada has been going strong for over 27 years hosting men's conferences to encourage men to be part of their families and to be a leader like St Joseph in the family. Our keynote speaker Jon Leonetti is part of the Catholic Men's Leadership Alliance (CMLA). The CMLA’s motto is “strengthen the man, strengthen the family, strengthen the family, strengthen the church and we will transform our culture”. With St Joseph as the patron of God Squad Canada, please consider attending our annual God Squad conference on March 22nd and 23rd. It is an opportunity for men to gather in fellowship and Brotherhood to be challenged and encouraged in their walk of Faith with God and then to take what they've learned back to their family and their parish.

We are blessed to have Fr Santiago preside at the opening mass. We have Brother Simon and Brother John Paul from the Seeds of the Word  religious community leading us in our afternoon session. Fr Troy will lead us in an examination of conscience and has arranged for priests to be available for reconciliation. We will have coffee, donuts and muffins on Saturday. We will serve our very own inspired Spolumbo's sausage for lunch, (still working on the names. I’m voting for tongues of fire for the spicy one).

We strongly encourage all men to attend and bring their sons.(13+ is recommended) There is no better example for young men than to see a room full of men wanting to be strengthened to be the man God calls him to be.

St Joseph, Patron of Canada, Pray for Us!
