Don't Miss Christ

Good morning brothers. I was listening to the Gospel at Mass this morning and was struck by the fact that Mary Magdalene, despite all the time she spent with Jesus, didn’t recognize him at first after his resurrection. We can often assume that those who don’t see Christ simply don’t care, or are doing something wrong, but Mary certainly couldn’t be accused of those, she was actively looking for him! Yet she did not recognize him UNITL she heard him call her by name. What a moment. We don’t find God because we’re looking for him. We find him because he calls us.

In all the activity of the Lent and Easter seasons, with all the men’s conferences going on and the truly great work you do to find Christ in your life, when is the last time you stopped to listen? When is that last time you heard him tenderly whisper your name and realized that aside from any effort on your part, he is with you?
