Dynamic Catholic Survey results
Takeaway #1: Those Who Believe Don’t Leave
97.3% of survey respondents who go to Mass regularly and pray regularly also believe in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. 99.3% of those same respondents said they would not leave the Catholic Church. Do you know what this means? Those who believe don’t leave. Believe what? Believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. This is our one hopeful truth.
Takeaway #2: Engaged Catholics Read Books
62.8% of the survey participants reported reading at least one Catholic book in the past year. But this is where it gets interesting: Of the people who read at least one Catholic book a year, 83.2% of them also pray regularly and go to Mass once a week. What does this mean? For a long time, we’ve held the position that engaged Catholics read books. Even if it’s just five pages a day, they take their time to increase their knowledge of the faith. And this year’s survey findings confirm that. What will the results be for next year?
Takeaway #3: We Still Have Work to Do
Out of 135,000+ people who took our survey, only 13.3% believed they could have a significant impact on the future of the Catholic Church in America. We’ve seen this concerning trend each of the three years—most Catholics don’t believe they can impact the future of the Church. But here’s the truth: God transforms the Church one person at a time…and that starts with each and every one of us. Do you believe you can have an impact on the future of the Catholic Church in America? We want to hear from you!
