Men's group start up questions

Last year, I saw a new program through the Knights of Columbus called COR. A men’s ministry. I felt it is something that my parish could really use, and volunteered to lead it. Unfortunately at the time, our church and our pastor were very tied up with our annual Fall Festival. So I decided to wait until after all the business with that was completed before approaching the pastor to speak with him about it.

As luck would have it, our pastor took a sabbatical, so I was not able to speak with him to get his approval to start. The sabbatical has been a long one, but we just received word that a new pastor has been assign and will join us the beginning of July.

I’ve had months of looking around and getting ideas of how to do this men’s group. and informally have spoken with men about it. to say it’s a mixed reaction is fair. It ranges from “But our parish already has so many ministries” to very enthusiastic about the idea. As can be expected.

But my main question at this point is how quickly should I try to meet with our new pastor to speak about the men’s group?
