Prayers
My Parish is having their annual Men’s ACTS retreat this weekend. I wasn’t able to team this year, as I have many other things happening and was stretching myself too thin. It began Thursday evening and will conclude at our 10am Mass tomorrow.
Prayers for all of the team, and the men going on the retreat.
As a addition to this, I volunteer with another group, the Ignatian Spirituality Project. They do overnight retreats and Spiritual Reflections for people recovering from homelessness and addiction. We just had a Men’s overnight retreat at the beginning of the month.
I learned one of the men we took on that retreat was also participating in my parish’s ACTS retreat. He doesn’t have any family in the area. Part of the ACTS retreat involves receiving letters from loved ones for encouragement. I contacted my ISP team brothers and got some of them to quickly write letters to him and delivered them yesterday to the retreat center to give them to him last night at reflection time.
Tonight is another part that involves family and friends going to the retreat center for a praise and worship and to let the men briefly see their loved ones. I’m going to stand for this man for encouragement in his recovery and spiritual growth, to help him see that he is not alone.
He and I have never seen each other in person, as I was unable to do the overnight retreat even though I had planned on it, due to unforeseen circumstances. But it’s important to me that he knows he is not alone in this life.
SOrry for the ramble. I just ask for my brothers to pray for these men.
