Spiritual Reflections
Monday through Wednesday this week, I was at a beautiful Jesuit retreat center in Louisiana attending a Facilitators retreat for a group I work with that does overnight retreats for people recovering from homelessness and addiction.
They also do Spiritual reflections at the facilities where the people are living, halfway houses, group homes or transitional housing facilities.
Unfortunately, here in Houston our Men’s Team hasn’t been very active with the spiritual reflections. I’ve mentioned it and have been working on setting something up with some facilities we haven’t worked with before, thinking that someone was already working with the current places. The regional director jokingly pointed out Houston’s lack of Spiritual reflection, which I agreed with.
Due to health and family issues, about half of the current men’s team has had to step back, and I’ve been stepping up to do more.
In any case, My point is I have a couple of question for everyone here.
We definitely need more men helping on this. What are some ways that you’ve found to catch men’s interest about Spiritual reflections or other groups?
What do you find that seems to be most helpful as far as how often you meet? Weekly, bi-weekly, monthly?
And finally, the organization I’ve been volunteering with is called the Ignatian Spirituality Project. They work with men and women, separately for the most part. They are currently in I believe 30 cities throughout the US, as well as Canada and Ireland. They are always needing volunteers of course, as non-profits do. If anyone would be interested in learning more about it, feel free to contact me or you can find their website fairly easily.
