St. Elizabeth Ann Seton wrecked me with this...

“I offer you, O divine Jesus, all that you are pleased to be for the love of me. I offer you your most sacred body, your most pure soul, and your divinity, which is the source of all happiness and wisdom.” -St Elizabeth Ann Seton

What is Jesus pleased to be for the love of us? The scriptures tell us that “for the joy set before him, he endured the cross.” Before enduring that agony, he sat at table with his disciples and transfigured the passover meal, instituting the New Covenant in his blood and giving us his body, blood, soul and divinity to nourish us, body and soul. He “became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” He gave his life and multiplies it in the Eucharist.

Jesus, our Lord, is pleased to humble himself to the point of being nourishment that you can eat. May we live in such Christlike humility that those whose lives we are in feel nourished by our presence in their lives. May they encounter Christ through us.
